Andrew and I are very fortunate that we live in Northern Ireland. We are able according to the laws of our country, to live free from the fear that the police will come in and bring us before courts just because we are gay.

Others are not so lucky.

Two young gay men are to be stoned to death in the Islamic Republic of Iran on Friday. Their offence? To have had sex with each other and with a 17-year-old to have filmed it.

The film was discovered on the mobile phones of Ayub and Mosleh, 20 and 21 years old, by agents of the Iranian regime in the Kurdistan city of piranshahr in northwest Iran. It has been claimed that the video included them having sex with a third, 17-year-old who told religious police that the pair raped him in exchange for sparing his own life.

I’d recommend that people write to the Iranian Ambassador, expressing their concerns over this sentence. The address is:

LONDON.

Alternatively you can email them at this address:
