St. Dominic: The Early Years
St. Dominic de Guzmán was born in Caleruega, Spain in 1170 to a noble family. He received a solid education and was ordained a priest in 1196.
The Formation of the Dominican Order
In response to the Albigensian heresy, St. Dominic founded the Order of Preachers, also known as the Dominican Order, in 1216. The order was dedicated to preaching the Gospel and combating heresy through education and intellectual dialogue.
